Course Memo
This course is designed to familiarise students with the functioning of the human body and meets the general science education requirement for an associate degree at HLSCC. The following material will be studied: Part 1, human physiology including the functioning of the major systems and the mechanisms used by the body for defence against disease; Part 2, the fundamentals of nutrition and the ways in which nutrtion affects health; Part 3, special health topics including the newest strategies to maintain health throughout life and prevent the onset of chronic diseases with special emphasis on those diseases prevalent in the BVI. (Prerequisites: all Pre-college Mathematics and English must be completed)
